True Guild Charter

Version 3  - 7/22/2009

Guild Foundation and Goals

True is, first and foremost, a group of friends who enjoy playing together and helping each other progress. True was founded in late 2005 by people who were exasperated by the lack of socialization in raiding guilds, and the lack of ability in smaller guilds. Even while we work toward raid progression, we are a casual guild.

Principles of True

1.       Help your fellow members of True. Without them, we can not progress.

2.       Keep the peace. Don't fight amongst yourselves.

3.       Real life comes first. This is a virtual world. Don't let it hold you back in the real one.

Guild Membership

Application Process & Recruiting

General membership in True is open to players and characters of all levels. Raiding positions are exclusive, however, and require a separate application process. All members are required to submit an application for membership on the guild recruiting forums. To join, you must go through the following steps:

1.       Submit an application via the Join True link on the home page

2.       Respond to any questions or concerns posed in your application thread.

3.       Interview with officers as requested.

Merit System

True rewards players via a merit system. Players gain access to the guild bank based on participation in the guild and adherence to guild policies. Members who assist others in the advancement of their characters or who make significant contributions to the guild above and beyond what is expected or required will be rewarded with advancement through the guild ranks. Along with this advancement come special privileges such as access to the guild bank and Ventrilo channel access.

Ranks

Officer Ranks

Guild Master: (Brainded) Our original founder and behind-the-scenes leader.

Officer: Leaders of the guild.  Currently: Bishatha, Dupie, Zaxtacey, Kilmandaros, Munkee, Laredith, Bullsit, Quarks, Atomicow, and their alts.

Merit-Based Ranks

Initiate: The beginning rank for new members. This rank indicates that a player is a member of True on a trial basis.

Zealot: Zealots have proven themselves to be a boon to the guild, and to abide by the values and rules of the guild.

Emissary: Emissaries have shown that they will uphold the reputation and values of True both in and out of the guild atmosphere. This is the highest merit-based rank.

Raid Ranks

Enlisted: Beginning raid rank.  Raiders who have just tried out for a raiding position will occupy this rank.

Brother: Brothers have proven themselves to be a valuable addition to progression raiding.

Brother in Arms: Brother in Arms is the highest raid rank. Only the most worthy raiders will attain this rank.

Public Communications

The guild forums and Ventrilo server are in place to facilitate communication between guild members and involvement in the guild community. As such, please try to make sure that everyone feels welcome while using them. Abide by the following rules when using each. Failure to abide by the rules, whether in the guild or not, will result in your access being revoked.

Forums Use

Keep profanity and slurs to an absolute minimum on the forums.

Don't make pointless posts in pointless places. e.g. - Don't say “lol 1st post” after a player's recruitment application. Try to keep your posts at least somewhat related to the forum you're posting them in.

Ventrilo Use

Keep profanity and slurs to a minimum when in the presence of people who might be offended. If you're not sure about someone, assume that they might be offended. This is not to be construed as “don't use profanity at all”. We know you might not be able to do that. Just save the worst of it for when you're alone with people you know are fine with it.

If someone requests that you stop doing something – whether it be cursing, telling certain types of joke, or anything of the sort – be polite. Apologize and stop. If it's something you feel you had the right to be doing, discuss it with an officer.

Don't interrupt raids or instance runs. If you want to listen in on a raid, ask the raid leader or an officer first, but don't speak on Ventrilo while you're there.

When entering a channel where it looks like people might be having a private discussion, be polite and ask if they mind you joining in.

Guild Bank

The Guild Bank contains all sorts of things including crafting materials, reputation turnins, gear, and raid consumables. Donations are tracked daily. Access to the items in the Guild Bank is linked to the merit system. Donations to the guild bank contribute to your guild merit. If you don't have the rank to withdraw items free, you will need to go through an officer. Officers will usually require an equivalent item deposit or a deposit of half the average auction house price of the items you want.

Events

Non-Raid Guild Events

True holds semi-frequent non-progressive events such as world PvP raids, battleground premades, and various non-PvP-related events. Participation in these events is open to players of all levels and ranks, and may be rewarded with special prizes.

Guild Meetings

We hold guild meetings monthly, or more frequently as needed, to discuss raiding, officer positions, and other guild concerns. Information regarding these meetings is posted in the guild forums and on the guild calendar. These provide an open forum for guild members to address their concerns and express their desires where they will be heard and considered.

Raiding

Policy on Alts

Players may only have one raiding character. Other characters are considered “alts” and may only attend raids when a raid leader determines that they are necessary.

Raid Behavior

Players are expected to be focused on the raid at hand during raids, especially progression raids. Play your best, don't screw around. Have fun, but not at the expense of the raid. Your fun should not prevent other people from enjoying themselves. This also means no extensive AFKs. If you need to go afk for a prolonged period of time, have someone come in and replace you, and please... make room in the instance. Log out or leave the instance so that your replacement can actually zone in.

Requirements to Raid

Gear: The level of your gear must be appropriate for the raids that you wish to attend. Raid leaders may choose to not take you because your gear is not up to par.

Spec: You must have a talent spec that is capable of fulfilling the raid role that you have been assigned.

Time Commitment: You must be able to dedicate at least 2.5 hours to a raid in order to receive a priority raid spot for that night. If you are unable to dedicate the full raid time but are still granted a raid spot, you are responsible for finding a player able to take your spot. Replacement players must be ready to step in immediately, and should be outside the instance at least 10 minutes in advance of the time they are needed.

Preparation: Come to raids (whether you're first-string or not) with the consumables you need. Flasks or elixirs, mana potions for casters, healing potions for melee/tanks, and appropriate buff foods.

Scheduling & Signups

All official guild raids are posted in the in-game calendar. If you wish to have a priority slot in a raid, you must sign up for it on the calendar.

Players who have signed up for a raid but are not online for invites or are not available as alternates will be penalized by demotion through the raiding ranks or temporary banning from raids. These penalties will be at the raid leaders' discretion, based on reason for absence. Family emergencies are perfectly valid reasons for absence... however, if you are able to, please notify the guild that you will be unable to attend. You can do this by marking yourself unavailable on the raid signups or adding a note to your signup that says you may not be there. Alternatively, you can notify an officer, class leader, or raid leader directly in game.

Loot Distribution

Loot distribution in True is based on what most benefits the guild. Thus loot priority goes to those who need it for their primary talent spec first. All disenchanted materials and reputation items will be donated to the guild bank in order to support free and reduced-cost enchants for raiders.

The looting process proceeds as follows:

1.       The Raid Leader links all loot dropped.

2.       The Raid Leader asks for main spec rolls on the first piece of loot.

3.       Interested players have 5 seconds to /roll in raid if they need the item for their primary spec. (If you need a few moments to see if it's an upgrade or to consult other players on its usefulness, TELL THE RAID LEADER and the Raid Leader may delay the timer.)

4.       If nobody rolls need on the item, the Raid Leader will ask for greed (offspec) rolls.

5.       Interested players have 5 seconds to /roll in raid if they want the item for off specs or testing.

6.       If still nobody is interested, the item will be disenchanted and sent to the guild bank, If an enchanter is not present, the Raid Leader will take the item to be vendored, with the resulting gold being sent to the guild bank.
